Giving the Appearance of Multiple Core Branches
MindGenius only supports one-way flow for single maps at a time and therefore only one Core Branch is allowed. There is a workaround available that may provide you with a partial solution if you want to give the appearance of two maps on the screen.
If you hide the core branch and its connectors to the level 1 branches it is possible to make your level 1 branches appear to be multiple cores.
To do that:
- Swap to a Map Diagram (Clockwise Top Down) layout
- Select your core branch
- Strike the “F3” key to open the “Branch Appearance” dialog
- Switch to the “Font” tab, then select “None” from the colour picker
- Switch to the “Branch Shape” tab, then select “None” from all colour pickers
- Click “OK”
- Select all your level one branches
- Strike the “F3” key to open the “Branch Appearance” dialog
- Switch to the “Connector” tab, then select “none” from the colour picker
- Click “OK”
Once you’ve hidden your core branch you’ll probably want to move your level 1 branches around a bit. To do that you’ll need to turn off Auto Layout, so switch to the Format tab of the ribbon, open the Map Settings menu and select Auto Layout to toggle it off. You will now be able to select each of your level 1 branches and move them around the work space.
One small limitation with the above will be the persistence of the expand/collapse icon from the original core branch. Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to hide these icons individually. You can hide them for the entire map if you wish via the “Options” dialog on the “Tools” ribbon.
