MindGenius Settings
Setting | Effect |
General Tab | |
Auto Recovery | If “Use Auto Recovery” is checked the map will be saved automatically at an interval specified. Otherwise the map will not be saved automatically. By default auto recovery is on and will save every five minutes. |
Units of Measure | The value selected is used to display the ruler in the docked notes editor |
Application Layout | If “Save the application layout with the document” is checked, the position of splitters will be saved and applied when you re-open the map. Otherwise all splitters will return to their default settings |
Owner/reviewer | The value entered is used to identify you as the map owner if you switch the map into review mode. If you open a map that was switched to review mode by someone else this value will be used to identify you as a reviewer |
Miscellaneous | If “Switch selection to new branch after adding” is checked, the branch selector will automatically move to the newly added branch each time you add one. Otherwise selection will stay with the parent branch. |
Outlook | If “Set a start date reminder for tasks linked to Outlook” is checked a reminder will be set for every task you link with Outlook. Otherwise tasks will be created but no reminder will be set. |
Display Tab | |
Display options
| Icons: If “Attachments” is checked, the single or multiple attachments icon will be shown as appropriate on branches with one or more attachments inserted. |
Branch width
| Minimum: The minimum width setting defines the minimum width a branch will have, even if the text within it takes up less room. |
Resource initials | The font and colour selected define the style of the resource initials displayed within the branch when a resource is assigned to it. |
Ribbon theme | The colour selected defines the background colour of the ribbon bar. The value selected here is saved and applied to all new windows. |
Default template | If this field is blank MindGenius will use its own built-in template for all new maps. If you browse for and select a template here MindGenius will use your own template instead. |
Spelling Tab | |
Spelling Options
| If “Highlight spelling errors” is checked MindGenius will place a red squiggle under words it thinks are incorrect. |
Spelling Exclusions
| If “URLs and Email Addresses” is checked MindGenius will ignore anything that starts with http or www, or includes an @ sign from the spell check. Otherwise these things will be included and will flag as errors until you add them to your custom dictionary. |
Edit Dictionaries
| This field displays a list of dictionaries you current have installed. The dictionary at the top of the list is the dictionary with the greatest priority, i.e. words are checked against it first, then the second dictionary and so on. This group also contains buttons for managing dictionary files and editing auto-corrections. |
Locations Tab | |
Locations | The paths displayed here are the locations MindGenius will look in when you work with various things, for example, when you open maps, add pictures, choose a wallpaper etc. |
Categories Tab | |
Add a new item
| If “Create a new category group” is clicked, a new group will be added to the list of categories. The new group will be added in edit mode so you can start typing the name you want to use right away. |
Category master list | This list of categories is inherited by all new maps. Changes you make here will affect all new maps but won’t affect existing maps. |
Mutual exclusivity | If “Category set is mutually exclusive” is checked for a category group, selecting a new category from the group will replace the current one. In effect, if a category group us mutually exclusive you can only assign one category from the group to a branch at any one time. |
Colour branches | If “Colour branches based on categories” is checked for a category group, the branch to which the category is assigned will be coloured according to the colour chosen for each category. |
Calendar Tab | |
Working week | Days of the week whose checkboxes are checked count as working days. Those not checked are non-working. The Gantt chart won’t schedule tasks on non-working days. |
Working exceptions | This list allows you to specify irregular non-working days for the project, for example, Christmas holidays. |
Sharepoint Tab | |
Checkout options
| If “Retain documents on the SharePoint server” is selected, maps checked out from SharePoint will not be downloaded to your computer, potentially causing problems if your internet connection suffers a drop-out. |
