Sharing the Master Categories List

Your master categories list is held in a separate file, which makes it fairly easy to share it with colleagues.

Firstly, on your PC:

1. Close MindGenius
2. Open Windows Explorer by entering the “Windows”+”E” key combination
3. Place your cursor in the address bar and type %appdata%, then hit “Enter”
4. Locate the “MindGenius” folder, open it and then the “V7” folder within (“V6”, etc for older MindGenius versions)
5. Locate the file “Categories.map”
6. Send the “Categories.map” file to everyone you want to share your category master list with

Secondly, on each of your colleagues’ PCs:

1. Close MindGenius
2. Open Windows Explorer by entering the “Windows”+”E” key combination
3. Place the cursor in the address bar and type %appdata%, then hit “Enter”
4. Locate the “MindGenius” folder, open it and then the “V7” folder within
5. Delete the existing “Categories.map” file
6. Copy and paste the “Categories.map” file sent from your PC into the “V7” folder
7. Launch MindGenius

Once MindGenius has been restarted your colleagues will be able to add the categories from your master list by adding them to their category gallery via the More Categories menu (at the bottom of the category gallery).

Note: When you follow the steps above you’ll overwrite your colleagues’ category lists in their entirety. What that means is that any customisation your colleagues have made to their own master lists will be lost.
